A referral code can be obtained from another player who already installed [[Pokémon GO]]. To get the code, the existing player need to go to their [[Friends (GO)|Friend List]] and tap Invite. The code can be shared with a new player or a player that has not played in at least 90 days.

When a player opens up their game, they have the option '''Have a Referral Code?''' that allows them to redeem a code. If the option is not available upon the initial login, the option is still available on the Friend List by tapping Invite. When a code is submitted, a friend request will be sent to the existing player. The other player has to accept the friend request in order to get the rewards. The code must be redeemed within 72 hours of creating or logging into their account.
After first logging to the game and accessing FriendList, player can also summit the code there.


Player can submit the code only 72 hours after downloading or returning player who didn't log into the game 3 months in a row can access this feature too.
