James's Victreebel: Difference between revisions

[[James]] {{pkmn2|caught}} Victreebel as a {{p|Weepinbell}} sometime between ''[[EP049|So Near, Yet So Farfetch'd]]'' and ''[[EP057|The Breeding Center Secret]]''. Prior to the latter episode, he left Weepinbell at a breeding center, unaware that it was actually a scheme by rival [[Team Rocket]] duo [[Cassidy]] and [[Butch]]. After some searching, James located his Pokémon and discovered that it had evolved into a Victreebel, and the two had a joyous reunion.  

Victreebel was only used once by James during his time in [[Kanto]]. In ''[[EP074|All Fired Up!]]'', it was called to help extinguish {{MTR}}, who was on fire. However, instead of extinguishing the flames, Victreebel itself caught fire, and {{Ash}} needed to intervene with {{AP|Squirtle}} to put out the fire.

In the [[Orange Archipelago|Orange Islands]], James started to use Victreebel in {{pkmn|battle}} in place of {{TP|James|Weezing}}, alongside [[Jessie's Arbok]] or {{TP|Jessie|Lickitung}}. In addition to battling, Victreebel started to play a larger role in the team's plans. In ''[[EP098|A Way Off Day Off]]'', James used Victreebel's {{m|Sleep Powder}} to put Ash, {{ashfr}}, and all of their Pokémon to {{status|asleep|sleep}} in order to be able to steal their Pokémon and get away unopposed. This failed, however, due to {{AP|Snorlax}} being too heavy for them to steal.

Victreebel was affectionate towards [[James]], and it regularly chomped down on his head whenever it was called out of its {{i|Poké Ball}}. Occasionally, it would also latch onto {{MTR}}, [[Jessie]], or even [[Jessie's Arbok]]. The antic was unwelcome, leaving [[Jessie]] and her Pokémon to often make the first [[move]] against the [[twerp]]s. James, however, appreciated the show of affection as its loyalty was never in question.
