I recently found out that the Japanese word for an adult antlion (薄羽蜉蝣) translates "thin-winged mayfly," and I believe Vibrava's design takes that literally. Since it's the mid-stage evolution and all of its names are partially derived from larva or nymph, I'm guessing that it may have been based on a mayfly dun (whereas Flygon would be the mature adult, albeit based different species). EDIT: It should also be noted that antlions nor dragonflies have this kind of middle stage, which may further support Vibrava being inspired by mayflies.
