* Not necessarily- someone could have hacked to get it. Nintendo's hack checks are spotty enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they'd let an unobtainable item go through the GTS. You might get the item normally by encountering Ho-oh, but I have AS so I can't check. Yamiidenryuu (talk) 23:15, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Repeatability of wild held items
Technically, the player could steal the Sacred Ash from Ho-Oh, then lose to it, flee from it, or (Gen IV onward) defeat it. If the player then re-enters the room (in Gen III) or enters the Hall of Fame (from Gen IV onward), they could then battle Ho-Oh again and steal its item again. However, for most players, this would not really be helpful to classify as a repeatable method even though it technically is. Should we count it as one? (Note that I haven't actually tried this, so it's possible that if you steal Ho-Oh's item it doesn't get it back, but I doubt it.) --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 03:02, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
