::::::Base stat total is a derived value. It doesn't ''directly'' say anything about any given Pokemon. If two Pokemon had unique BSTs of 695 and 696, one could still have something like base 690 Speed and base 1 everything else, while the other could have base 691 HP and base 1 everything else—that's obviously a very extreme example, but the point is, when you just talk about BST, you're sharply divorced from any particular meaningfulness.
