'''Yanase Berlitz''' (Japanese: '''ヤナセ・ベルリッツ''' ''Yanase Berlitz'') is a recurring character in the ''[[Pokémon Adventures]]'' manga.

 

Yanase is a member of the [[house of Berlitz]] where she is the wife of Mr. Berlitz and the mother of {{adv|Platinum}}. Additionally, she scientist working for the [[Pokémon Association]].

Yanase Berlitz first appears in the {{chap|Ruby & Sapphire}} in a flashback. She was one of the scientists involved with the attempt to create an artificial [[Colored orbs#In the Pokémon Adventures manga|Green Orb]] to control {{p|Rayquaza}} in order to prevent any future disasters that would come about if {{p|Kyogre}} and {{p|Groudon}} were awakened. When a {{p|Salamence}} broke into the lab and started rampaging, Rayquaza was freed from its cage, and the laboratory was destroyed. Yanase and the other injured scientists were found by [[Norman]], who had fought Rayquaza shortly after it escaped.

Afterward, Yanase decided to abandon the project and threw the last remaining Green Orb core into a lake. {{adv|Emerald}} would later come across the core and wore it as an accessory on his head.

 

Later in the {{chap|Platinum}}, Yanase meets with [[Bebe]] and [[Daisy Oak]] at hospital in the Sinnoh Pokémon Association headquarters. She and Daisy reveal that the Platinum's Pokémon have developed [[Pokérus]]. At the end of the eighth chapter, Yanase appears before Professor Rowan and Mr. Berlitz at [[Sunyshore City]]. She tells the two that she and Platinum will be happy to help them in their research.
