== Studio Ghibli a Possible origin for Eevee ==
I know that if someone references pop culture as a pokemon origin in the biology section it will get removed due to the legal implications/speculation.
However, This topic has been brought up alot in Japanese forums in that Eevee shares many similarites with the Studio Ghibli Fox squirrel which debuted in
1984.
Here is a link comparing Teto the Fox Squirrel(1984) to Eevee(1996):

They both share the same body type: standard quadruped build, mane, large ears, and fluffy tail.
What makes this coincidence special is the creator of this character is none other than Hayao Miyazaki. He is venerated in Japan as one of the greatest animators
who ever lived. Foreign critics have given him the moniker "The Japanese Walt Disney".

Teto the fox squirrel(kitsunerisu/キツネリス) debuted in Studio Ghibi's first ever movie production "[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nausica%C3%A4_of_the_Valley_of_the_Wind_%28film%29 '''Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind''']". This movie marked the creation of
Studio Ghibli. This animation studio has been cited as on of the most important forces/inspiration regarding anime and pop culture. This creature is said to be
based on fennec fox, much like Eevee is speculated to be.

I brought this up in your forums before here is the link to the thread:

I apologize for disturbing bulbagarden staff, but this reference to pop culture seems too blatant considering how Hayao Miyazaki is viewed as in Japan.

:It's hard for most Westerners (i.e., editors here) to truly appreciate whatever fame Miyazaki has in Japan; moreso, what fame Nausicaa and/or Teto may have. That is, it'd be ''much'' easier if you could just find some source that confirms they inspired Eevee. (I'm not suggesting such a source exists (or doesn't) currently, only that it would help.) ::I tried perusing official sources from Gamefreak(interviews/transcripts) only to find nothing other than fan/forum discussion regarding the subject of Eevee. It seems Gamefreak is secretive about their design process which is typical of most Japanese companies; I just wanted to bring up the similarities between Eevee and Miyazaki's Fox Squirrel. This is due to Teto being modeled after Fennec fox/vulpines which would vindicate fan speculation that Eevee and its variants are indeed vulpine inspired. Unfortunately, as I cannot find concrete information from official sources the thesis I typed above does not meet Bulbapedia's standard of sourcing. I am sorry for taking up your time. == Eevee is a tanuki? ==

I noticed that the Origin section of Eevee's page lists it as being based off of a tanuki. How? Eevee doesn't even remotely resemble one. --[[User:PKMNAdventurer|PKMNAdventurer]] ([[User talk:PKMNAdventurer|talk]]) 01:11, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
