Dunno what that guy is talking about, but I do have something to say about Gyarados' origin. In the part where it says that it's Flying Type may be a reference to the karp kites, wouldn't it make more sense to say that it's a reference to Chinese dragon kites? They totally look like Gyarados. They have the constantly open mouth, the horn like things at the top, and they even move alike.
