Flint will thank you for helping [[Volkner]] earlier and then face you in a battle. Be careful when his Pokémon use {{m|Sunny Day}} as it can raise their Fire-type moves and weaken the power of Water-type moves. His first Pokémon {{p|Houndoom}} should be taken down as quick as possible to help give you an early lead before Sunny Day is used. {{p|Flareon}} should not be much of a problem thought be careful with {{m|Overheat}} since it is very powerful when first used, though continued use will weaken it. Also if it used {{m|Will-O-Wisp}} it can weaken your Pokémon's physical moves and cause minor damage each turn unless if it is treated. {{p|Rapidash}}'s speed can be a hassle and don't let it use {{m|SolarBeam}} especially if Sunny Day is in effect. It could also paralyze your Pokémon with {{m|Bounce}}.  

{{p|Infernape}} is strong and can counter Water and Flying-types. Unless if you have one with a good enough move from it's type, then use Ground-types. His strongest Pokémon {{p|Magmortar}} has a pretty strong moveset to counter it's weaknesses but is slow so a faster Pokémon with a strong Water, Rock or Ground-type moves could easily take it out.
