Evidence: Excadrill doesn't look apologetic or guilty in episodes leading up to 'DragonBuster', whenever Iris calls him out - he looks ticked off. And Iris herself realised later in the 'DragonBuster' episode; after Excadrill's first move, he realised Haxorus wasn't an opponent he could beat. And Little Iris didn't even notice.
