Phenomena will continue to exist off-screen and when the player accesses their game menus. They do not vanish until they are entered into unless the player enters a battle, picks up an item, interacts with an [[Non-player character|NPC]], or exits the area entirely. One will also vanish if a walking NPC steps on it. Only one phenomenon will be in the area at any given time. Saving before entering a phenomenon will not preserve the phenomenon upon reset.

They do not vanish until they are entered into unless the player enters a battle, picks up a visible item, interacts with an [[Non-player character|NPC]], or exits the area entirely. The easiest way to tell if a phenomenon is occurring at a given time is if there is a particular sound played on top of all of the other audio; however, visual indications will also appear.
