The English release will be October 9, 2012, four days before the start of the North American Autumn Regionals. This caused much controversy due to the introduction of new cards into the {{TCG|Modified Format}} days before such a high leveled Premier Tournament. Much like the Japanese set, Dragon Vault contained all Holofoil cards. However, the English release adds 1 card—{{TCG ID|Dragon Vault|Kyurem|21}}—as a {{TCG|Secret card}}, originally handed out as one of the {{TCG|BW-P Promotional cards}} in Japan at the Battle Carnival Spring 2012: World Challenge Tournament.

All the packs were released through the {{merch|Black & White|Dragon Vault Blisters}}. There were 5 promotional cards available in these Blisters: {{TCG ID|Dragon Vault|Latias|9}}, {{TCG ID|Dragon Vault|Latios|10}}, {{TCG ID|Dragon Vault|Rayquaza|11}}, Haxorus, and {{TCG ID|Dragon Vault|Druddigon|17}}. It is still unknown if the Haxorus card is one of the {{TCG|BW Black Star Promos}} or a reprint of the one in the set, as there is an unreleased Japanese {{TCG ID|BW-P Promo|Haxorus|121}} promotional card.
