If you want to catch a lot of rare Pokémon, you should visit the Great Marsh at the north end of town. For {{PDollar}}500 you can catch up to 30 Pokémon or walk 500 steps, whichever comes first.  One way to end the visit early is to select "Retire" in the pause menu. With the choice of mud or bait, it's up to you to choose which one you do! Bait lowers the chance of the Pokémon escaping, but also significantly lowers its catch rate.  The mud does just the opposite, making the Pokémon easier to catch, but raising its chances of fleeing. It is important to master this unorthodox catching method, because some of the Pokémon found in the Marsh will be helpful for subsequent gym battles.
