Special events were once held monthly, allowing members to obtain rare Legendary and Novelty Pokémon that are otherwise unobtainable; however, they have now been replaced by "Explorations". There are two types of Explorations with varied difficulty: "Special Explorations" can be very difficult and have higher requirements to start, while "Normal Explorations" will be more easily accessible. Different Explorations will be cycled in and out on a monthly basis, so if a member is unable to complete an exploration within the month that it is available they can try again the next time it comes around.

Points (the currency used in game) can be gathered through clicking and interacting with other Pokémon and eggs to give them maturity. They are awarded when achievements are unlocked, and every time a Pokémon is leveled to 100, or a new egg is adopted.

A new concept introduced in GPX+, novelties, are Pokémon that have been "transformed". In other words, their sprite has been altered so that the Pokémon does not looked the same. An example of this is Valentacool. A Valentacool is a Tentacool that is a pink color and has hearts on it's upper body. These novelties are generally rarer then regular Pokémon, although not as rare as legendaries.
Another aspect of GPX+ are Explorations. Explorations can be accessed through the Explorations tab in the Pokétch. Explorations are missions you can go on to get something that is usually fairly rare. There are two types of Explorations: Normal and Special. Special Explorations are harder missions that give a reward that is usually a legendary or rare novelty. Normal Explorations are easier and give something more common, like a common novelty or a uncommon Pokémon. All Explorations have an embarkment fee you must pay, and you must meet certain requirements to go on the Exploration.
