Back in Generation II, trading to GSC from RBY was possible, as Ash was able to bring and transfer his old pokemon easy. In Gen III, he had to leave everyone (except Pikachu) behind. Even as RSE was unable to take Pokemon from GSC and RBY due to the change in mechanics, Ash was still able to use his old ones in later episodes, as he did in previous seasons. | |||
In this episode, Ash was about to get his old Pokemon back. But after Team Rocket steals and then loses them, Ash goes out to find his old Pokemon and retrieves them with their respective Pokeballs. This seems similar to the same "trouble" we go through to get ours back, thanks to them adding the Pal Park feature. | |||
