:::Rendered even more possible by the fact that first generation games were badly coded. Specifically, the data on Pokémon was put in out of order (the Game Shark codes reflect this, as the Pokémon list starts with Rhydon and ends with Victreebell, with all Pokémon and some Missignos in between) , so a mix-up was easily done. It also would make sense that once the games were out, the developers decided not to switch the sprites back, as it would confuse the players.
