Promotional Tretta are special Tretta that could not be obtained by playing the game, and come in three main types. Rookie Tretta (ルーキートレッタ) are typically orange with a Normal-class rating, and were usually included in retail items such as boxed sets or targeted publications. Trophy Tretta (トロフィートレッタ) are purple with no class rating, and were usually awarded as prizes in Pokémon Tretta tournaments or events. Special Tretta (スペシャルトレッタ) were initially only orange with a Super-class rating, and were distributed in conjunction with the theatrical release of Pokémon movies. Tretta labelled as Special Tretta eventually began to phase out Rookie Tretta, appearing in more items of merchandise and publications, and coming in various different colors. All promotional Tretta have the collection number "P".
