The Big Freeze Reaches Boiling Point!

The first section gives a brief introduction of the Plasma Blast expansion including new Team Plasma supporter cards and ACE SPEC cards.

Plasma Blast: Top Card Highlights

Every set has its shining stars, but the Black & White — Plasma Blast expansion for the Pokémon TCG has a whole galaxy worth. Yes, this set is loaded with great new Pokémon that are prepped and ready to take down Team Plasma, from the super-chomper Houndoom (056/101) to Sawk's (52/101), quintuple-power Kick of Righteousness, plus a full roster of crucial Pokémon-EX! It also boasts some strong Item cards like the Silver Mirror (89/101), three Pokémon Fossils, and a little help from the Elite Four!

There's a lot to explore in Plasma Blast Let's take a look!

Ancient Days

Let's start in the ancient times of the Pokémon world, with Pokémon Fossils, Resorted Pokémon, and the cards that love them! Black & White — Plasma Blast includes Lileep (3/101) and the awesome Cradily (4/101) as well as Archen (53/101), Archeops (54/101), Tirtouga (27/101), and Carracosta (28/101). Cradily is the one to aim for, though, as its Lifesplosion attack for   allows you to search for multiple Stage 2 Pokémon from your deck and put them onto your Bench, yes that's right: skip directly to Stage 2.

All three Restored Pokémon feature the Prehistoric Call Ability, which moves them from the discard pile to the bottom of your deck. Combine that with the new Supporter card Caitlin (78/101) to put any number of cards from your hand to the bottom of your deck in any order. Then, use Root Fossil Lileep (87/101), Plume Fossil (82/101), or Cover Fossil (79/101) to get your Pokémon into play fast!

Pokémon-EX

Some of the greatest legends of the Pokémon world are the Pokémon-EX, and Plasma Blast brings the newest additions out in force, Check out the Energy-gathering Emerald Slash attack from Virizion-EX (9/101 and 96/101), marvel at the way Genesect-EX (11/101 and 97/101) manipulates your opponent's Bench, and enjoy the sheer mayhem of delivering 150 damage with Kyurem-EX (30/101). These are the new stars for a reason!

You'll salso find three Pokémon-EX with a longer history, including the Supporter-card-fetching Jirachi-EX (60/101 and 98/101) and the massive new Dragon-type versions of Dialga-EX (65/101 and 99/101) and Palkia-EX (66/101 and 100/101). Always good to have options like these!

As befits a set with "Plasma" in the title, half of these Pokémon-EX fight for Team Plasma. Dialga-EX, Palkia-EX, and Genesect-EX are all Team Plasma Pokémon, with powers that trigger when you attach Plasma Energy.

Chose your side—either way you'll find some Pokémon-EX to make your deck shine. Oh, and the best example of that? Give Genesect-EX one of the ACE SPEC cards like G Booster (92/101) or G Scope (93/101) and watch your opponent really start to worry!

Down with Team Plasma!

You can make a lot of big, bold moves against Team Plasma Pokémon with the anti-Plasma cards in this set. Haxorus (69/101) has Strike of the Champion, a    attack that Knocks Out any Defending Team Plasma Pokémon. And Golurk (46/101) offers a good incentive not to play sides: its Iron Fist of Justice does 60 damage for just   —but only if you have no Team Plasma Pokémon in play!

Silver Mirror prevents al effects of attacks from your opponent's Team Plasma Pokémon to the Pokémon it's attached to—and if you would rather play offense than defense, Sawk drops the Kick of Righteousness attack for   and does 10 damage—or 50 damage against Team Plasma Pokémon! That's a game-changing attack for a Basic Pokémon that you can find in your opening hand!

ACE SPEC and Power Cards

The Plasma Blast power leve is set to maximum, and it includes power card reprints like Ultra Ball (90/101) and Rare Candy (85/101), among others.

But you find some new favorites here as well: Volcarona (13/101) gives you the Team Plasma card draw of Solar Transporter, but also the Leech Life attack, for     delivers and heals 50 damage at once. Suicune (20/101) is flat-out immune to attacks done by Pokémon-EX. And the ACE SPEC Master Ball (94/101) lets you get one Pokémon you want from your deck—with no restrictions.

And then there's the wild new Sigilyph (41/101), with the new Toolbox Ability that lets it attach up to four Pokémon Tool cards at once. That opens up some crazy possibilities: imagine attaching Eviolite (Black & White—Plasma Storm, 122/135), Rocky Helmet (Black & White—Boundaries Crossed, 133/149), and Giant Cape (Black & White—Dragons Exalted, 114/124) all at once!

Or deck Sigilyph out for a full set of awesome silver bling: Silver Bangle (88/101) and Silver Mirror at the same time—so it can tear down opposing Pokémon-EX that can't touch it! Or combine two or three Silver Bangles on the same Sigilyph! The odds are good that this Pokémon is going into some championship decks.

With cards like that and a full blast of awesome art, the Plasma Blast set is ready to roll!
