Pichu

Generation IV

In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, if the player is walking with a fateful encounter Shiny Pichu (or Pikachu or Raichu) and interacts with the Ilex Forest shrine, a Spiky-eared Pichu will appear and join the player's party. (If a Shiny Pichu, Pikachu, or Raichu meets all conditions, its Trainer Memo page in the summary will only have one date and will say "(Apparently) Had a fateful encounter".) The only way to obtain a qualifying Pokémon is from an event. No Shiny Pikachu or Raichu were distributed, but if a fateful encounter Shiny Pichu is evolved, it will still trigger the event. The Wonder Card text referred to this Shiny Pichu as a "Pikachu-colored Pichu".

No Celebi were distributed in Generation V, but they can be transferred forward from a Generation IV or Generation III game.

Beldum

Generation VI

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, a fateful encounter Shiny Beldum unlocks special dialogue with Steven Stone during and after the Delta Episode. If the player has a qualifying Beldum in their party when speaking to Steven at Mossdeep Space Center after Zinnia has stolen Maxie's Key Stone, Steven will mention seeing Rayquaza a long time ago, a reference to Mega Evolution Special II. After the Delta Episode, if the player has a qualifying Beldum in their party and visits Steven's house, a note there will have a post-script mentioning the Shiny Beldum. Shaymin

Generation IV

In Pokémon Platinum, a fateful encounter Shaymin must be in the party to obtain the Gracidea from a woman in Floaroma Town.

In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, a fateful encounter Shaymin is also required to obtain the Gracidea. After beating the Sudowoodo on Route 36, if the player walks into the Goldenrod City flower shop with a fateful encounter Shaymin in their party and a Shaymin as their walking Pokémon, a girl in the shop will give the player a Gracidea. (While the same Shaymin can fulfill both conditions, the only check performed on the walking Pokémon is if it is a Shaymin.)[1] The only way to obtain a fateful encounter Shaymin is from an event, whether a Shaymin distributed directly (as listed below), or indirectly via the Oak's Letter event-exclusive item.

Arceus

Art associated with Arceus in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver

Generation IV

In Pokémon Platinum, obtaining a fateful encounter Arceus or a Hall of Origin Arceus activates two in-game events. Note that the condition for these events does not depend on the Pokémon in the party; it is fulfilled by catching Arceus at the Hall of Origin, receiving a fateful encounter Arceus through Mystery Gift (an event), or receiving a fateful encounter or Hall of Origin Arceus through trade (including the GTS). If the player has obtained a qualifying Arceus, upon visiting the Oreburgh Mine, they will find a hiker near the entrance; if the player talks to him, he will give them a Flame Plate and leave. After this, if the player visits the Canalave Library, they will find the hiker on the second floor; if they speak to him, he will share a theory about how the world began, how this connects to Arceus, and how Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, and the lake guardians are connected. The library will also now contain a book—Sinnoh's Beginning as Told on Plates, written by the hiker—collecting the inscriptions from all the plates.

In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, a Hall of Origin Arceus (from Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum) and a fateful encounter Arceus can both be used to access the Sinjoh Ruins to obtain Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina (meaning the player can receive up to two of these Pokémon). (If they meet all conditions, then, for either Arceus, its Trainer Memo page in the summary will only have one date; and the Hall of Origin Arceus will say "Apparently met at", while the fateful encounter Arceus will say "(Apparently) Had a fateful encounter".) The first time the event is activated, the player must be walking with a qualifying Arceus and attempt to enter the research center at the Ruins of Alph. To activate the event after receiving a Dialga, Palkia, or Giratina once, the player must enter the underground chamber in the Ruins of Alph while walking with a different type of Arceus than they had when they previously completed the event.

No Arceus can legitimately be obtained from the Hall of Origin, since it requires the event-exclusive item Azure Flute which was never distributed. The only way to obtain a fateful encounter Arceus is from an event.

Keldeo

Generation V

In Pokémon Black and White, if the player enters the Moor of Icirrus with a fateful encounter Keldeo, an old man will appear and tell the story of how Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion took care of Keldeo after a fire separated it from its parents. If the player also has Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion in the party (or returns with them), they will teach Keldeo Secret Sword and it will change to its Resolute Form. The player may also return at any time with all four Pokémon to learn the move again if Keldeo does not know it.

In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, if the player has caught Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion and they bring a fateful encounter Keldeo to Pledge Grove, Keldeo can learn Secret Sword. Upon interacting with the rock face at the north end of the grove, Keldeo will attempt to come out of its ball; if let out, the mark left by Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion will make it remember the move Secret Sword and it will change to its Resolute Form.

Afterwards, the guitarist shares a tale told by his mother, of a Pokémon who lost its melody when the world was darkened by sorrow.
