Pete Pebbleman (Japanese: セイジ Seiji) is a Trainer from Pewter City who participated in the Indigo Plateau Conference.
He was the third opponent Ash faced in the Indigo Plateau Conference. He appeared in Fire and Ice, where Ash battled Pete on the Ice Field. Pete's Cloyster nearly defeated Ash's Kingler by trying to wear Kingler out by using Withdraw, while Kingler kept whacking Cloyster's hard shell with Crabhammer. However, Kingler's attacks paid off after a while and Cloyster was finally defeated.
Pete then sent out Arcanine. Despite the type disadvantage, Pete's Arcanine easily defeated Kingler by dodging Kingler's Bubble and then using Dragon Rage. Pikachu was then sent into the battlefield. While Pikachu used Agility to confuse Arcanine, Arcanine continued to use Fire Blast, melting the Ice Field, in order to prevent Pikachu from using Agility. Pikachu then dove into the water and shocked Arcanine with Thunderbolt, which channeled through the melted ice, becoming more powerful, thus defeating Arcanine. Because of his loss, Pete was eliminated from the tournament.
He reappeared in a flashback in Friends to the End.

| Arcanine's only appearance was in Fire and Ice, where in the third round of the Indigo League it battled Ash on the Ice Field against his Kingler, after Ash had fainted Cloyster. Kingler used Bubble, but Arcanine dodged it and used Dragon Rage, defeating Kingler. Ash then sent out Pikachu and used Agility; Arcanine used Fire Blast, but it could not match Pikachu's speed. The ice started to melt, turning it to water. Pikachu dove underwater and used a Thunderbolt, which channeled through the water. Arcanine was hit hard by this and fainted, giving Ash his third win.
Arcanine's known moves are Dragon Rage and Fire Blast.
