Plot

Spoiler warning: this article may contain major plot or ending details.

Cyrus commands Dialga and Palkia with the Red Chain, forcing them to battle each other to bring forth a new world. The two Legendaries clash, and causing rocks to fall in the underground tunnels, where Professor Rowan, and Mr. Berlitz, being protected by Byron and the Underground Man, are working on their plan to stop the fighting between the two Legendaries.

Elsewhere, Volkner receives a message to head to Mount Coronet urgently, which he deletes as he starts to head back home. Suddenly a flash of light appears in his vision, guiding him towards Sendoff Spring, where a large distortion has is forming in the sky.

Cynthia and the three Pokédex holders are still climbing the mountain, as she explains to them that Cyrus was forced into attempting to execute his plan with only one Red Chain after the Lake guardians were prematurely freed, which gives them a chance to defeat him.

A blast strikes the cliff above them, sending large chunks of rock down towards them. After ducking to avoid them, they realize that Dialga and Palkia have already been summoned, and they're fighting up at the peak of the mountain. Diamond turns back to Pearl, who can't see the two Legendaries through a spacial distortion beginning to form. Pearl himself begins to visually distort, as he tries to reach out to Diamond.

Back underneath the tunnels, Professor Rowan and Mr. Berlitz have continued to analyze the fight between Dialga and Palkia. The Professor points out that unlike Groudon and Rayquaza, which were driven to fight by instinct, Dialga and Palkia are being forced to fight.

Just below Spear Pillar, Commander Jupiter is the only Team Galactic member left fighting the Sinnoh Gym Leaders. Her Tangrowth uses Natural Gift as a final attack, but is struck down by a combination attack from Maylene's Riolu and Candice's Abomasnow. As the triumphant Gym Leaders head upwards to fight Cyrus, they begin to get caught in a time distortion as events begin to repeat themselves, leaving them in disarray.

At the Professor's command, Byron collapses the surface, bringing all the Gym Leaders underground to explain the nature of the distortions and how they work. The Gym Leaders panic, worried they won't be able to reach Cyrus, but the Professor reveals he has a plan.

A vortex begins to appear above Dialga and Palkia as Cyrus celebrates the birth of the new world, marking his complete victory, as he commands them to fight harder. The ground beneath him shakes, as all the Gym Leaders emerge from the ground, directly next to Cyrus, within the confines of the Red Chains.

They begin to attack the Chains with their Pokémon, leading Cyrus to call out his team to stop them. Ignoring them, the Gym Leaders succeed in snapping one of the two Chains. Mr. Berlitz breathes a sigh of relief as the numbers being measured on his computer return to normal, and the Professor concludes Team Galactic has been defeated, and peace restored.

Suddenly, the effect of a distortion reaches the underground passage, making them realize they were too late, and Dialga and Palkia are still fighting, and the creation of the new world cannot be stopped.

Cynthia and the Pokédex holders are still carefully ascending the mountain as Dialga and Palkia's fighting increase the intensity of the time and space distortions. Upon catching sight of them, they remember having seen them in the wall fresco at the Celestic Town ruins, as well as the statue in Eterna City.

Concluding that the fate of the Sinnoh region is at fate, they all climb aboard Cynthia's Garchomp to get to the top of the mountain as quickly as possible while avoiding all the distortions. After Dialga and Palkia attack them and knock them off Garchomp, Diamond and Pearl are face-to-face with the two Legendaries. Despite feeling overwhelmed, Diamond brings out his newest Pokémon, Moo the Mamoswine, and charges towards them.

Jupiter sits next to her defeated Tangrowth as a figure emerges from the shadows, revealing herself to be Sird.
