Release information

Up until the 2013 World Championships, the top prize cards were only awarded to the top three competitors in each age division for those competing in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Championships. This was changed to include an additional prize card for competitors placing fourth in each division, and to widen the distribution to those also competing in the Video Game Championships. The card features the same artwork as the No. 3 Trainer by K. Hoshiba. The artwork was updated for the card awarded at the 2014 World Championships, featuring an embossed Full Art Pikachu complete with trophy by 5ban Graphics. The card also features a bronze border. As with the card awarded in the previous World Championships, it features the same artwork as the 2014 No. 3 Trainer. The 2017 print was updated to feature the Sun & Moon Series layout, and was subsequently reprinted in 2018 and 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no World Championships in 2020 and 2021. This card was not reprinted with the Sword & Shield Series layout; the 2022 World Championships only featured a No. 1 Trainer card. The card returned for the 2023 World Championships with new artwork by 5ban Graphics, featuring the Scarlet & Violet Series layout.

Trivia

  • There are only six copies of each annual version produced, making it amongst the rarest English cards available.
  • The 2013 copies awarded to the Video Game fourth place winners still make reference to the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Championships in the card text. This was corrected starting with the 2014 World Championships.
