Route 21 (Japanese: 21番道路 Route 21) is a route in eastern Kalos, connecting Snowbelle City and Victory Road. The route is also known as Dernière Way (Japanese: デルニエ通り Dernière Way).

Route description

This is the final route to go through before Victory Road via Snowbelle City. While its main trail is short and easy to navigate, there are several worthy items that lie off the beaten path, so it pays to explore.

The Move Tutor capable of teaching one of the player's Pokémon the ultimate Dragon-type move, Draco Meteor, can be found in a house on this route.

Trivia

  • A male Rising Star in the gate from Snowbelle City claims that his Pokémon's nickname is "Sepultura" (Japanese: セパルトラ; Korean: 세파르트라) in the English, Japanese, and Korean versions. Sepultura is a reference to the Japanese back cover of Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue, which shows a Charmander with that nickname in a screenshot of the game. This nickname is changed to "Ash Ketchum" in the Spanish version, "Misty" in the German version, and "Wockerjab" in the French version. In the Italian version, he instead says, "A battle a day keeps the doctor away!" (Italian: "Una lotta al giorno toglie il medico di torno!"), a pun on the expression "An apple a day keeps the doctor away!"
  • This is the only location in Pokémon X and Y in which red-striped Basculin can be caught using the Good Rod in Pokémon X and the Super Rod in Pokémon Y. In all other locations in which Basculin can be encountered in these games, blue-striped Basculin appears under those conditions instead.

Name origin

Dernière is the feminine form of the French adjective dernier (last).
