It's triple trouble for Ash and his Pokémon!

Ash can't wait for his first Gym battle in Unova. But when he arrives at the Striaton City Gym, he finds not only one Gym Leader waiting for him, but three! Ash decides to battle them all.

Now, Ash's new Pokémon are going head-to-head with three very tough Pokémon: Pansear, Panpour, and Pansage. Ash better look out, because this battle is starting to heat up!

Plot

This book is based on the anime episode Triple Leaders, Team Threats!, with some elements also taken from Dreams by the Yard Full!.

Ash arrives in Striaton City with Pikachu, Iris, and Axew, excited for his first Gym battle in Unova. Cilan walks by them, commenting on the rarity of Ash's Pikachu, and introduces himself as a Pokémon connoisseur. After Ash asks where the Striaton Gym is, Cilan offers to show him the way. Arriving at the Gym, Ash is shocked to find out that there are three Gym Leaders, and Cilan is one of them. After each of the brothers send out their respective Pokémon, Ash decides to battle all three. The leaders accept, on the condition that he must win two of the three matches in order to earn the Gym Badge. In the first match, Ash's Tepig defeats Chili's Pansear. Cress is up next, and his Panpour defeats Ash's Pikachu. In the final match, Cilan's Pansage is narrowly defeated by Ash's Oshawott. As Ash happily leaves the Gym after earning his badge, Cilan chases after him and asks to join his group. Ash and Iris agree and they leave on their journey through the rest of Unova.
