Release information

This card was released in the English Base Set, originating from the Japanese Expansion Pack. Before the TCG's North American release, prototype Pokémon Leagues were given the Trainer Deck B, which included this card. All cards in this deck have a red border and "Trainer Deck B" printed on the back. It was later reprinted in the English Base Set 2 expansion. A special W Wizards stamped version of the Base Set 2 print of this card was released in the March 2000 issue of Top Deck Magazine.

Trivia

Some copies have Wartortle in the evolution box.

Origin

Withdraw and Bite are both moves in the Pokémon games that Wartortle can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, though it is slightly reworded. The Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
