Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, UltimateSephiroth!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • Read over the style primer before making your edits. It is a basic outline of Bulbapedia style. For a more in-depth set of rules, see the manual of style.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:UltimateSephiroth/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • All users are allowed to edit the userspace 3 times a day. If you edit more than 3 times, you may be subjected to a warning. If you ignore the warning, you will be given three chances to comply. If you do not comply, your ability to modify the userspace will be revoked for a period of time.
  • Unless prior permission is given, no user is permitted to edit another user's page. Furthermore, edits to other users' pages are permitted only if there are problems that spread to other parts of Bulbapedia, such as broken links that appear on the wanted pages, switching out duplicate images that appear on the Archives, etc.
  • Fan fictions, missions, riddles, games, and anything else deemed not suitable for the wiki will not be allowed. If you would like to add something, but do not know if it is acceptable, ask an administrator.
  • A list of administrators that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! ----Kkllnn blastoise 19:56, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Contest Tag

A usertag you have been using, {{User Five Masters Ribbons}}, has been moved to a new location due to a split in the usertag between the Contests of Generation III and Super Contests of Generation IV. Your tag has been switched to that template's new location, {{User Contest Master}}. If you have only mastered the Super Contests, please change the tag to {{User Super Contest Master}}. If you hav emastered both, go ahead and add both. --tc26 14:52, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Club Member Prefix

Nice idea with the moving. It helps when we get COTDs with those names--KukiTalk 19:23, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Bad idea moving. Those are the only peopl present in canon and the names should not have been changed, If you would have looked at the history, you would have known that. I'm tired of people moving those pages when they are already at the needed names. MaverickNate 19:29, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Link Templates

Please use link templates when linking to stuff such as Pokémon names, attacks, and the like. For example, {{p|Rhydon}} instead of just [[Rhydon]]. This is so you don't unintentionally link to a disambiguation page.

For a full crash course on link templates, look at the list of link templates. --((Marton imos)) 19:37, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Starly

The reason for the thing about the header is because at the Project Pokédex, we have decided to seperate origin from trivia. Me and tc26 are already working on it.

P.S. I meant to say this in my edit summary, but I accidentally clicked "save". Chocolate 21:22, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I thought that the separation was just at the idea level, based on the discussion at the project page. I'm now confused, though: this Tesh assumes that the origin should be under Trivia, though you guys at Project Pokédex are making it its own section. Guess I'll keep avoiding touching them because now I have no idea how it should be in order to please most of the people. UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 21:29, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
I've always seen it under the trivia header. Maybe I'm getting old lol. Though, origin is trivial information to me. TESHIGIGAS 21:32, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Userspace abuse warnings

Normal users can give out the first three warnings by using {{subst:Userspace warning}} for the first, {{subst:Userspace warning|1}} for the second, and {{subst:Userspace warning|2}} for the third. The fourth warning level can only be given out by Sysops or higher. ^_^ - Kogoro | Talk to me - 17:33, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I almost thought that there was a template for that too :P Good to know that normal users can actually give warnings too. Thanks for the tip! UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 17:35, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Ash's Bulbasaur

Why exactly should we link to redirects? Chocolate 16:02, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't do it either, but the Manual of Style says so, and I think it makes the rules. UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 16:04, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Then I'm definitely starting a discussion on the Manual of Style talk page about changing that. Chocolate 16:04, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Number disambigs

As you're adding the prev/next templates, can you add a value for the link target (episodelist parameter) like I did in 001? I don't think it makes sense for that link to point to nowhere/the Main page. — Laoris (Blah) 22:33, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't notice that :D I must've copied the template from another number disambig since it is not there. But, I'll fix that thing too. Thanks for noticing! UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 22:35, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
By the way, did you get permission? I know Ht 14 was going to get some, but I dunno what happened after that. TESHIGIGAS 22:36, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I didn't ask anybody, I just thought that I may do it since it was only partially done... If I stole somebody's work, I can stop adding those things too. UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 22:37, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Well I didn't add the thing to 001 until after you started working, UltimateSephiroth. And what do you mean by permission, Tesh? Permission to edit these? — Laoris (Blah) 22:38, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Permission to add the template to the disambig pages. Making an edit like that needs to be approved by an admin first. We don't want another incident like what happened with Chocolate. TESHIGIGAS 22:42, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
TTE himself added the template to the first 4 last night. — Laoris (Blah) 22:43, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh, he did? Ok. I'm living in the past... XD. *Goes to read the Bulba news...* TESHIGIGAS 22:45, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. He did the first few and I just copied the template and began to add it forward. So am I allowed to put them or not? :D I'm a little confused. UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 22:47, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Go for it. TESHIGIGAS 22:47, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Thank you :) UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 22:49, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
I don't see why not. Course, I made the number disambigs past 15 to begin with because I figured since we already had some, we'd want more, and Maverick Nate got mad at me. — Laoris (Blah) 22:50, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Wait! The prev/next template needs to go below the disambig notice. TESHIGIGAS 22:58, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
O.O Now that's bizarre, all the first pages had it vice versa, and I followed that style... >.> What a mess, I guess I have to start moving them around :P UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 23:00, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I'll fix it.--RexRacer -talk 23:52, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
No, wait. It's meant to be like that. TTE put the first few up himself. Plus I asked him anyway. TESHIGIGAS 23:53, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I just previewed it, and it looks terrible on top--RexRacer -talk 23:53, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
That's funny. I just asked him, and every single other prev/next like that is at the top. MaverickNate 23:54, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
It's at the bottom on the TM pages. TESHIGIGAS 23:55, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
To me they look better at the bottom, and besides, the few ones already inserted were at the bottom. UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 23:57, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay, nevermind; just ignore me about this. MaverickNate 23:58, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Project SpriteDex

Judging by the edit you reverted, I'm fairly sure you understood the point of the project. It aims to provide Bulbapedia with every single Pokémon sprite and to fix the nontransparent images. A "good" (horrifying, really) example is the sprite table here: [[Jigglypuff (Pokémon)|]] LordArceus 17:54, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Yeah. I somehow got right after adding my name on the list the idea that it said something about "sprite articles". That made me revert my name away, but as my first thought was correct, I added my name back. UltimateSephiroth (user · talk · contrib) 17:59, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Um, yeah, doi

Dude, it isn't in the userspace, since I had used the User:ShinjiLover/(name) like it said to, thank you very much.
Don't be a jerk, read the rules.
ShinjiLover 06:11, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Every page whose name starts with "User:" is in the userspace. And I'm sorry for my mistake, I was sure that I had read before that all kinds of fandom is disallowed. I have read the rules before and after Maverick Nate's deletion tag removal I checked again what they said about Fakémon, and didn't find anything prohibiting them, so I saw I was wrong. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 09:31, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
Eh, don't even worry about it anymore, dude. I just had way too many of my articles taken down and I did NOT want another one down, too.
ShinjiLover 21:56, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

No :l

You didn't read the second part of my edit summary...I never said that bit was sepculation. The fact that Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina are featured is clearly stated in the paragraph below (as you said); it's completely redundant to say "It has been confirmed that Dialga/Palkia/Giratina are in the movie. (line spacing) A trailer has shown Dialga/Palkia/Giratina over a ruin that appears to be Spear Pillar." Don't you think? LordArceus 20:51, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

I edited it a bit. I think it still could be mentioned there, see the newest revision and tell if that's better. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:57, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
It is, thanks! It's still redundant, but my main issue was having that line of text floating there by itself. Your way removes that but remains complete. LordArceus 20:58, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

insults

arent allowed.

If he thinks its not an insult he can go to an admin and ask them to evaluate it. The wiki rules state vandalism can be removed by any user, and insults are a type of vandalism --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

You just have no sense of humour. You have to learn to laugh to yourself too or you'll have a hard way ahead in your life. What he wrote there is no vandalism or insulting, it's humour, and you should learn to recognize it. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 18:29, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Its subjective, you and others may be able to brush insults off and not care about them, but i find it hard to have him poking fun at me all the time, he really makes my time here hell. He's been banned before for bullying me and saying horrible stuff, if he wants it put back, he can go to an admin and they can evaluate whether or not its ok, may i suggest you and i leave it now, as I dont want us to get off on the wrong foot. You could be a really great friend, I dont wanna ruin that chance over a war about an insult. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010

How are insults the same as vandalism? Vandalism denotes the destruction or defacing of something. The poster didn't change something to turn it into an insult, so you can't remove it on the grounds that it is vandalism, whether or not it is an insult, and whether or not it is appropriate here if it is an insult. You really should get an administrator's approval before removing it. — Laoris (Blah) 18:35, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
It can be argued either way, dont you think posting nasty comments is vandalism? Maybe on the streets of wherever its not, but most people would consider putting up insults on a wiki vandalism.

Any user has the right to remove insults and/or vandalism. I have excercised that right here to today, now as the offender, he may make an appeal to an admin to have it reinstated in which case, the admin will evaluate it, and decide whether it should be put back up or not. If the admin says no, theres nothing he can do about it, if the admin says yes, theres nothing i can do about it. --Guardian of Earth |SGMS 2010
Oh, I see. I don't know much about the relationships between BP users yet since I'm relatively new here (when it comes to active contributing). If this has happened before then I guess it is wrong. It may be best that I leave that conversation then alone as it doesn't really concern me. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 18:40, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Re:Empty lines

Not only am I doing that, but also I want to put spaces between trivia bullets; odds and ends like that. The reasoning is only to match headings as they would be when people leave new messages. There are spaces between the equals signs and one line between the heading and the message. Bulbapedian - Talk 22:03, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Yep, you knew this was coming:P Why should the alternate color or one Pokémon be included? It is the color of a Pokémon! seriously though, good job on that. ive been meaning to tackle the lack of good sprites for awhile, but, ive been busy. -- MAGNEDETH 23:27, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Glad you like them :) Yeah, there are still certain sprite groups needing attention... namely Crystal sprites plus we need someone to get animated DPPt ones. But I think we'll get them fixed some day :P UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 23:33, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
I happen to have a Crystal ROM. If someone tells me how, I could probably rip them. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 23:35, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
I have too, but I don't know any easy way to do that. One way is to pause the game in VBA, then repeatedly take Tools -> Next frame, and copy the sprite into a gif saving capable application on each frame until the animation has ended. That will take a hell lot of time. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 23:37, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Well then... do we need Red sprites or Emerald sprites? The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 23:38, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Well, some of the Red/Blue (and also JP Red/Green) sprites are flipped. You can see the current status of non-shiny front sprites here (caution: contains A LOT of images, therefore is very resource-intensive). UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 23:42, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Ok then, as is, I can get the flipped U.S. Red/Blue sprites. But, how do I go about that... and how do I make suer it is transparent? The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 23:44, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
No automatic way to make them transparent, as R/B use the same color for transparent and white. I have all the R/B sprites—as bitmaps (>_<). IIMarckus 23:47, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
I have made a cool and really fast Photoshop action (stupid word btw, I'd name it a script or a macro) which cuts the image from a VBA screenshot to a new file, also trying to make it transparent as well as it can, but I dunno if I can send it to the web. I'll check that thing out tomorrow, since it's pretty late here (01:51 AM) and I'm still very busy with changing the .gifs to .pngs in the bazillion pages they're used on. >.> I might not have Photoshop... Does that mean I would have to edit them out manually? The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 23:54, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately, yes. And just to make it sure to everybody, MS Paint cannot handle transparency (or animated gifs (or layers (or anything else very useful))), so it's outta question. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 23:57, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Help

Can you please fix this page?? It is really empty and I am hoping that you could please unstub it, because you are very fantastic at these articles. MaverickNate 13:50, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

I don't know, I can try to check it, but as it cannot be built in the Auto Deck Machine, but is rather only used by a NPC by the player in a guided duel (IIRC), it may prove hard to get the full card list. If one could read the card IDs from VBA's memory and convert them to real cards, it'd be easier, but at least for now I don't know how to do that. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 11:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
I happened to find a handy guide that lists the card in-game IDs, so I managed to get the deck data of both Practice Deck (which I assumed to mean the deck the player uses in the practice duel) and Sam's Practice Deck by roaming around the VBA's memory dump. Hi! Actually, I'm erasing Hebrew translations because games were never translated into it. I put Japanese on top of the list for a sort of privilege, being the original languages of the franchise. Do you think I'm doing something wrong?--Siegfried 16:39, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

You could've said that in the edit summary, I didn't see you saying that anywhere, and as for the language order, I think they should be alphabetically. Actually, I'm not sure if Japanese should even be listed there since it's already stated on the top of the page. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 16:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Sorry. This happens every now an then, expecially in moves pages. --Siegfried 16:46, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Re: Talk page comments

Seriously, though, i had no idea what that person was saying. --Kingbowser99

Doesn't matter, you can't erase it. And please sign with four tildes (~) The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 17:30, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
I think it meant that you have tried to end your talk page comment with a signature contained in a template, like this:
Blah blah blah, this is text, I'll end my comment here. {{User:Kingbowser99/Signature}}
While it may not have been totally similar to that, I think you get the point: only sign comments with four tildes with no templates. And as for the comment, even if you don't understand it, it makes no excuse to the rule unless it is spam or harassing, and in this case it truly wasn't. I don't see why it would be allowed, since it doesn't try to pretend to be any of the official awards. You can ask an admin if you want to be sure, but I'd say it's totally OK. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 18:02, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

KMEW

Is it OK if I mention your comment on KMEW? I'm recording today.--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 14:31, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

It's OK (if you haven't recorded it yet); I hadn't enough time to be online earlier on today. If you're already recorded it, no can do :P UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 17:46, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Batteries

You threw out Japanese Crystal?! Oh noo! :) Anyway, changing the batteries is the easiest thing EVER if you have a few bucks and a Radio Shack (or other electronics store). With needle-nose pliers, unscrew the back, slide it off and voilá! The battery. Any store clerk can get you another, and then just tape it in. Works like a charm! There are some great pages on the internet with picture and detailed instructions, too. If your Gold does die, and you need a little walkthrough, just let me know. Jazzmoth 19:58, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah (though it was Silver :P) But that was like four or five years ago (back then I barely had Internet access), so I didn't know about its battery dying, and I already had Gold. I don't really know if was just randomly glitching or if its battery is really dying, because when I checked the Pokémon I had there, it asked the time, but on every subsequent boot it remembered it again. Anyways, I'll ask you for a walkthrough if it starts to behave oddly again :P UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:07, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Ahh, yes. No internet makes things much more difficult. As for glitching, who knows - my Mystery Dungeon Red lost all saved data for about two days, and I got so upset that I didn't save any new data, then on the third day it all came back. It was the strangest thing. Anyway, good luck with your Gold! Jazzmoth 21:35, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes. My Ruby Version. My "friend" hacked my game. Sometimes the memory gets lost. Sometimes it comes back. My final memory of it before I "lost" it was that my Tropius leveled up to 47, and learned Synthesis. It was at a Secret Base. ht14 21:38, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Dutch Translations

I believe the main games (i.e. Red/Yellow/Gold/Crystal/Ruby etc.) haven't been translated to Dutch (games rarely are here), or are extremely rare. I do seem to recall one or two spin-offs translated, though, and if anything: the anime has been dubbed and there's a Dutch version of the TGC. I didn't know there was a rule against stating certain translations. I personally feel they have a rightful place on the page, but don't doubt this topic has already been discussed in length. If you feel they should be deleted, be my guest and do so; in that case, my apologies for posting redundant info. If there are parts of bulbapedia that DO require translation to Dutch, kindly let me know. ~Democalypse

Yeah, I myself am against removing translations (there were a lot more of them at some point), but I think that the guideline has been that if the main games don't have translation, then things like types' translations should not be added. It'd be great if an admin would have an opinion about this; I'll ask somebody. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 20:32, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Why did you change that image in my page?--Diby 07:30, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Because the old was a crappy, logoed jpg, and a png version was uploaded. That's why. I won't change pics on other people's pages without a reason. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 16:30, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Bug Catcher

Can't you see that the person who wrote all that wrote really unnecessary things?! And the grammar /spelling isn't any better!!!! PH1RESTRIKE 22:48, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

The text written on the page was indeed useful, and if the grammar is bad, you're supposed to make it better, not remove it. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 22:50, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Excuse me, but the info regarding the bug catcher in the anime is unnecessary, because it's a paragraph that only revolves around one character that only appeared for one episode! If we did that for every single trainer class, it would take up days! The Pokémon list isn't needed because whoever is fighting a bug catcher doesn't need to look this up and say, "oh, so I'm gonna fight this Pokémon."!!! The availability of bug catchers is not necessary because it's only about where they are, and people might not care about it, just finding one if they find one! PH1RESTRIKE 22:58, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Ok, you may have cleaned it up a little, but still, the anime part isn't required! PH1RESTRIKE 22:59, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Actually, not every class has someone who appeared in the anime.--freezingCOLD (page, talk) 23:00, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Indeed, the Pokémon list was unneeded, but all other information was relevant. Actually, I think that that was the first article improvement of the Trainer Classes Project, why should we flatten them and keep the article as a stub? (We can list some general information about their locations just like we list the exact locations of each Pokémon, they're a part of the games after all.) UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 23:02, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Well, I did some digging, and I found this, so I also am now doubting that it is needed on the Bug Catcher page.--freezingCOLD (page, talk) 23:04, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes, my point. PH1RESTRIKE 23:05, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
I think he should still be mentioned, but the second half of the paragraph and the table are not needed. — Laoris (Blah) 23:06, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
That's true, he has an own article, so it's not that important to deal with the whole episode's plot on the Bug Catcher page; however, leave a small snippet about that he is based on that class, because that's the most relevant part. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 23:07, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Ah! Thank you. I will finish the rest. PH1RESTRIKE 23:15, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Heya, all. Its the person who expanded the article. I thought it might be a good addition to trainer class articles, they all do look bland so thats why I wanted to create a project on it. Yes, my grammar is bad, so forgive me for that.--Clarky13 23:29, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for being patient about it. Check the article, we did improve it much from your version.
Yeah. *Nervous Laughs* My writing terrible.--Clarky13 23:35, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Contents Border

Mind if I ask how you get a border around your table of contents? I still haven't figured it out from the code. --QliksTalk 05:11, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

It's actually quite simple; just write the table code and add the text "__TOC__" to where you want the table of contents appear. :P UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 18:12, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
