As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a captial B (which is, again, accessed by holding Shift and pressing the B key). The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.

My computer is having some problems, as I have a dual-boot with XP and ME, with an ATI Tuner card in the back and a VCR below the monitor, so there is not much room for a good quality mic. Change the width accordingly.

1-The top bar is where it needs help, where it says the submit part and the date. It used to be a box, not just text.

More front page work

The front page looks great, thank you. One thing has been bugging me. Do you know how to make it so the This Week section appears on the right side of the front page instead of the left? It gets pushed down pretty far, and the right side is often empty. --Argy 15:24, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

cards

Unnecessary

You changed the template to give the option of switching between ribbons should the need arise. Then you change the template to accomidate for your new uploading of the classic ribbon, something that was also unnecessary. That ribbon was also the only one that has the RibbonX title, which makes your first edit to the template redundant. Please, it is fine as it is. --RexRacer -talk 17:27, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Card images

They don't get uploaded new versions. Each of the Japanese names are very specific to the Japanese cards taken from the site, and we rename every card whenever we get a new version that isn't from the Japanese tcg website. ^Maverick _Nate 13:54, 1 March 2009 (UTC)

[[Image:001Bulbasaur.png|thumb|right|LOOK A BULBASAUR]] works well. Heck, even if the image is somehow broken and won't link, there's that handy little window link.

What you did by making the template was essentially the same as making a template that takes one or two parameters, makes the first a link to a page and the second an optional alternate text. It does the same as one of the wiki software's built in protocols. TTEchidna 23:59, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

TTE has spoken. And what TTE says is that hey guess what! Link templates are like {{p}}. Links to something used a lot with alternate text and such. wp:Pikachu. Look what that does without me making explicit changes. Links as wp:Pikachu. Pikachu prevents that and lets you use the same amount of characters. HAPPY DAY! a:File:001Bulbasaur.png makes you have to put two things in front of the filename. Insanity! 001Bulbasaur.png works better and does the same work. Heck you could say that {{bp}} is as much a laziness template as wp is. P is even a laziness template by your definition.

The dividing line between laziness and link is that laziness templates accomplish a task the wiki software itself does. {{g|training}}. When you're linking to Pokémon training anyway, why not type out Pokémon? Plus, being named G for GAME, it was kinda meant to be used for the games. Red and Blue. Gold and Silver. So on. But then we changed the naming scheme so all it's good for is Ranger and Colosseum and shit.

What you made was, like I said, essentially making a template that does something the wiki does automatically, and it takes out the ability for the user's preferences (yes that's right) to determine the default size it is without a size call. Plus, who the hell would have the filename as the caption?

I agree. Look at {{prof}}. Just use the a few more characters, and you get the same result. See Rowan and Professor Rowan.
