Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, EV Love!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • Keep an eye on the Messages from the Editor on the main page, to stay informed on current events on Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The é can be accessed by holding Alt and typing either 130 or 0233 on a Windows computer, and by using Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can easily click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • The word Poké Ball is spelled as two words. The "Poké" part is identical to the four beginning letters in "Pokémon"; "Ball" is spelled with a capital B. The spelling "Pokéball" arises frequently, but is incorrect.
  • The word "you" and all forms of it should not be used on encyclopedic pages unless it is a quote from Pokémon or other media. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, not a walkthrough.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • For a future capture, release, trade, or evolution of a Pokémon belonging to a main character of the anime, please do not create or move the page to reflect your suspicions, even if they are shared by many others. Policy here is to wait until the episode in which the event happens takes place is aired, unless there is substantial evidence for the suspicion (such as Brock's Happiny being held in his arms).
  • Image uploading is done on Bulbagarden Archives, a separate wiki accessible through the toolbox in the sidebar. This is done so that both Bulbapedia and Bulbanews have access to the images uploaded. To activate your account at the Archives and Bulbanews, please login there using the same username and password you use here on Bulbapedia.
  • If you want to make a page about a character you made up, please create it at User:EV Love/(name), not merely (name). Bulbapedia's main namespace is reserved for actual, official Pokémon, items, characters, and locations. Also, please try to make sure that subpages are not categorized by templates used within.
  • Having said this, please make sure that you do contribute adequately to the main namespace. Bulbapedia is not MySpace or Facebook.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact in case of a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! --PsychicRider 17:17, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Something you should know.

That is all. TTEchidna 22:46, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Haha yeah I know but at least I've got my other punctuation right.--EV Love 22:53, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Your userpage

While there isn't formally a limit, would you mind slowing down on the edits for a bit? Try to use "show preview" and save the whole page as one, rather than making lots of little edits. The thing is, every edit is saved into the history on the server, and we don't want to fill it up too fast and cause the site to crash. OK? Thanks. — THE TROM — 21:02, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

List of Pokémon by availability

Dream World overhaul done, also included new area, plus fixed Generation IV table. Hah, so few non-Unova Pokémon are not available via Dream World. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 21:50, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Userspace limits

Hi. I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. Please don't do it any more, though. Bulbapedia's Userspace policy restricts the amount you can edit your userpage: no more than three edits per day and make sure you contribute to our mainspace more than your userspace. This policy was instated to promote people helping out in the mainspace, and also to control strain on our server. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so help us out by contributing to some articles before coming back to your personal userpage. The more often you edit in the mainspace, the more you will be allowed to edit your userpage. Thanks! --It's Funktastic~!話してください 01:45, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

Uh...I'm aware. I've made my three edits today and they're all preparation for mainspace. EV Love (talk) 01:46, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
You have not made a mainspace edit in nearly three weeks, and have edited your userpage 11 times in that span. Even if you are abiding by the "three per day" limit, you shouldn't be doing only that. You should still be editing the mainspace as well. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 23:16, 4/7/2014 (UTC)
I would be editing the mainspace right now if the servers weren't so crappy these days and my edits would actually save. EV Love (talk) 02:40, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
Well your three to five thousand byte changes to your userpage sure seem to be saving.... Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 02:43, 4/8/2014 (UTC)
It takes like 3-5 attempts to save, and that's if I cut down how much I do. If I could do it all in one edit I would. EV Love (talk) 04:12, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
That's not the point. The point is that you are making so many edits to your userpage while not touching the mainspace. You have made four minor edits to the mainspace in the past month, and before that haven't even touched it since 2011. Your userpage should not be your go-to page to edit every time you are here. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 04:24, 4/8/2014 (UTC)
I am creating a page that will go into the mainspace when I'm done. Can you please leave me to edit in peace? EV Love (talk) 16:25, 8 April 2014 (UTC)
That's great but you should still oblige to the rules. You can still edit the mainspace and work on your article in the userspace. The rules state that everyone is entitled to editing their userspace, but in return editors need to edit the userspace regularly. When you make one userspace edit, you're expected to make two mainspace edits in return, with two userspace edits it's three mainspace edits, with three userspace edits it's four mainspace edits, and so on. These are the rules and you're still going to have to oblige to them even if you're working on an article in your userspace. If you have server problems I advice you to either pass down your article to someone else who doesn't have server problems, or if you don't like that, set up your article in WordPad/Word/another text program and copy paste it when done and you're actually creating the article on Bulbapedia. In any case: if you still continue editing it in the userspace, you must make mainspace edits too. This is simply the rule. Thanks. ☼ BlazingFist ☼ 16:40, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Great Marsh

Hi, I'd like to ask you about Great Marsh edit you recently did. You said that this information is "confirmed by NPC", but if you take a look at the Trivia section, you can see that an NPC is incorrect in DPP games. Was that man the source of your information? If so, you might want to undo those edits. Just to be clear - what was the game you were playing - DP/P/BDSP? Itan (talk) 20:49, 27 November 2021 (UTC)
