Welcome

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Dannyboy601!

Here are a few links to help you get started:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format of all pages on Bulbapedia.

Our friendly team of staff are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with Bulbapedia.

On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~), or by using the "Your signature with a timestamp" (button_sig.png) button at the top of the edit window.

On Bulbapedia, the ability to edit personal userpages is a privilege. Per our userpage policy, this must be earned by first making constructive edits to the mainspace. Once you can, remember to keep userspace edits (edits to User:Dannyboy601) to a minimum.

For a complete list of policies and editing advice, please see the Welcome Portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! --SnorlaxMonster 13:44, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

Talk page comments

You're not permitted to remove comments from your talk page. This includes the welcome template. Please don't do it again. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 21:28, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Redirects

Hi. FYI, redirects of alternate spellings of official terms generally are not needed. Alternate spellings with a parenthisized format, like "Autotomise (move)", are definitely not needed, because these in particular only encourage people to use mistaken spellings on pages when the link doesn't come up red.

Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:10, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Yes, sorry about that. That issue completely skipped my mind until after I had finished. — Dannyboy601 (talk) 18:22, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Category descriptions

Why are you removing perfectly valid category descriptions? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 07:13, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

Sorry, I've been offline for a few days. It's because:
  1. The category names are perfectly self-explanatory. No one's going to end up at Category:Volcanoes, for example, and need any explanation as to what types of article are listed there.
  2. As far as I'm aware, the majority of categories on Bulbapedia don't have descriptions (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). It's the exception, not the norm, and I thought to myself, "Well, since I'm here, I might as well change these to match the rest of the site".
  3. If I recall correctly, many of the descriptions were awkwardly worded or had poor grammar, so I decided to go with the nuclear option and get rid of all of them.
So, yeah, it's mostly because of redundancy and consistency. It's not the sort of thing I'd have changed had I not needed to edit the category pages anyway. Dannyboy601 (talk) 23:58, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
