Welcome to Bulbapedia, ?8!
Bulbapedia bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Template

New templates should be run by a member of staff before it is mainspaced and put into use. This is especially true for notice templates that has the potential for high use. In light of this, your template has been deleted. Feel free to create the template in your userspace first next time and we will look at it. Thank you. --Pokemaster97 23:16, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Gender confirmation

Since you've done this repeatedly, I thought I should clarify things for you. If a Pokémon first appeared in the anime prior to its gender differences being introduced in-game, it cannot be said to be definitely one gender or the other based on appearance, since there were no gender differences at that time. When articles say that a specific Pokémon's gender was confirmed "only in-game", it specifically means that the Pokémon was available in the games (either by promotional download or in the possession of an NPC) and had its gender confirmed there. If a Pokémon has not appeared in the games, it is completely wrong to say its gender was confirmed in the games, because it did not appear in the games. Undubbed template

It seems you were already informed that templates must be reviewed by staff before being used in the mainspace. Even if the template is in your userspace, this does not mean you immediately have the okay to add it to articles if not a single staff member has said anything. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 18:52,1/24/2014 (UTC)

Sorry, I just unintentionally put them there so that administrators would know of the template's presence. ?8 (talk) 22:44, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
There are other ways to do that, such as contacting a staff member directly or using the talk page of one of the articles. Templates that have potential for high amount of use need to be approved by staff before being used in mainspace articles. Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 01:24,1/25/2014 (UTC)
Really? Well, I did put the links of the two templates I constructed out on my userpage. - unsigned comment from ?8 (talkcontribs)
So, noting your comments, I asked how to easily review usertags on the talk page of Bulbapedia:Usertag policy. You're welcome to respond to it. This message is also at your talk page. ?????? 00:14, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Userspace limits

Hi. I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot recently. Please don't do it any more, though. Bulbapedia's Userspace policy restricts the amount you can edit your userpage: no more than three edits per day and make sure you contribute to our mainspace more than your userspace. This policy was instated to promote people helping out in the mainspace, and also to control strain on our server. Bulbapedia is an encyclopedia, after all, so help us out by contributing to some articles before coming back to your personal userpage. The more often you edit in the mainspace, the more you will be allowed to edit your userpage. Thanks! ----Pokemaster97 01:00, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

I'll make sure it doesn't happen again, though I can't make any promises. ?????? 01:38, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Distnguish Template

May I what was the your purpose when you added a template that doesn't exist (on the Clembot page) ?? No offense, but I'm just curious. --- PikaTepig999 (TALK)(Contribs) 12:05, 5 April 2014 (UTC)

This is because Clembot can very easily be confused with Clemont's anime counterpart, and the template is known as Distinguish in Super Mario Wiki. What's the template called instead? ?????? 14:09, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
I believe the template you'd be looking for here is {{search}}, but that's usually only really necessary when they the characters actually share a name (either in the same language, or between languages like how Proton is called Lance in Japanese) Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 14:25, 4/7/2014 (UTC)

Preview button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Changes button... Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Thanks! On another note, if there's an image available for an episode, you replace the "no" behind "screen=" with "yes". This will make the image show up. ☼ BlazingFist ☼ 17:21, 7 April 2014 (UTC)

Some Userspace stuff

Hey there! I took a look at your userspace today and just wanted to give you some words of advice. Nothing negative, so don't worry; just something it appears that you aren't aware of. In regards to your Featured Articles proposal, we actually have a much more appropriate system in place to bring attention to that sort of thing. Category:Bulbapedia proposed policies. You add this template to a subpage of your userspace (for example, one for this situation would be User:?8/Featured Article proposal), and have the body of the proposal on that page, instead of your main ?8 page. We always consider edits to your main userpage to be personal edits, no matter what you are doing. Even though you were adding to your proposed policy, it appears you edited your always-personal userpage 8 times today, thus received another warning. We don't want constructive, good-intentioned things for the wiki to be held accountable against you, so please just make sure to have any sort of proposed policy or template on a subpage and you shouldn't really be bothered.

I had another thing I wanted to mention about your Featured Article idea. Although ambitious and well intentioned, as an Editorial Board member and a user for going on 6 and 1/2 years now I can say with certainty that your Featured Article Nomination Committee idea will most likely not happen. We simply don't have the manpower to run such a committee. We used to do featured articles with a system that for the most part worked, which was user nominations, followed by public votes on the nominations and staff approval to finish it off. General interest in the whole FA process progressively dwindled: as a collective, we stress improving our worst pages over boasting our best. I'm not saying we won't ever revisit the Featured Articles again, we'll just end up going with the system we already know can work. We like your ambition and we hope you stick around enough to get a good feel for the place and contribute more, so please, enjoy your editing and have a wonderful day! No, no, you're okay! I was looking for proposal entries because Super Mario Wiki does that and it works fine!!!!!! ?????? 16:58, 21 May 2014 (UTC)
