Era 2000-2001

Beat Up was a popular Pokémon Trading Card Game deck archetype based around Sneasel, Slowking, and Murkrow, all from the Neo Genesis expansion. It has frequently been cited as one of the most successful decks of all-time, winning an astounding amount of Pokémon Organized Play tournaments. Sneasel, Slowking, and Cleffa were all featured as part of two-time World Champion Jason Klaczynski's [httpyaddayadda Top 50 Pokémon Cards of All-Time] article, and he named Murkrow as one of the [httpyaddayadda 10 most fun]. With Beat Up winning constantly and few other decks competing with it, Wizards of the Coast did something unprecedented at the time. The company chose to ban Sneasel from use in competitive play. This effectively crippled the mainstream version of the deck, but variants utilizing only Slowking and Murkrow persisted.

The deck list appearing below is not official; it is meant to represent an average build of the archetype, not specifically constructed for any regional metagame. Being that this is merely an archetype, a player may wish to change any part of this deck when building his or her own version. This list is terrible.
