Thunder deals damage and has a 10% chance of paralyzing the target.

Generation II

Same as previous generations, but also deals double damage on a Pokémon using Bounce.

Generation IV

In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl it has a 30% chance to penetrate through Protect or Detect when used in heavy rain, but not in Pokémon Platinum onwards.
