The Pokémon Wiki, formerly known as The Pokémon Encyclopedia is a Pokémon-centered wiki hosted on the for-profit website Wikia.

History

The Pokémon Wiki was created in January 2005 by Jellochuu, who is no longer an active member of the wiki. Bureaucrat duties were previously held by Charitwo, who was previously a member of the Volunteer Spam Task Force. The wiki's current bureaucrat is Crimsonnavy.

In its history, the wiki has gone through a number of logo changes and a name change. Like most wikis, it has had its share of vandal attacks. It currently has over 5,000 articles on the Pokémon franchise.

Conflicts

Due to misunderstandings in licensing, users from The Pokémon Wiki have been known to plagiarize Bulbapedia's content, and subsequently refused to provide attribution to the original writers of some articles in December 2008 and March 2009. While not fully resolved, the administrators of The Pokémon Wiki are working on fixing this matter.
