Why Phanpy?

Phanpy is a Conservative Pokémon? Didn't know it. --Maxim 14:20, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I switched it to Relicanth since its gimmic is being unchanging. --FabuVinny T-C-S 14:25, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, Phanpy is conservative because it's supposed to be like the elephant that's the mascot of the Republican Party. But I think that Relicanth is more serious and better, even though it's not like it has to do with any conservative party. Dialgarules 21:58, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Relicanth is potentially offensive, and barely appropriate. Although the idea that conservative values (like Relicanth) are basically unchanging, is a fair statement, the usage of Relicanth could also be interpreted as political commentary, that conservative values are ancient and outdated. I suggest that the mascot either be returned to Phanpy, or changed to something else. I propose either Donphan, Mamoswine, or something else more appropriate. Let's throw some ideas around.

These are my suggestions, nothing more. I only recommend making this change to prevent future conflict, it has nothing to do with my personal opinions. I am not going to make a federal case out of this, since that is what I aiming to avoid in the first place.

Not Mamoswine, it doesn't have a trunk. What was wrong with Phanpy? And I agree that Relicanth could be seen as an insult (although honestly the elephant mascot started out that way too). The only problem is that Phanpy only really represents Republicans, who are far from the only conservative party, in the U.S. or the world. It's a real dilemma. --AndyPKMN 12:05, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
