Tatsumi Kimishima

Tatsumi Kimishima (Japanese: 君島 達己) is the current chairman and CEO of Nintendo of America. He was the president of Pokémon USA from its founding in 2001 to 2002.

It has been announced that he will soon be promoted to managing direction of Nintendo Co., Ltd., relinquishing his position as chairman and CEO of Nintendo of America to Global President Satoru Iwata.[1]

Kimishima once worked for the Sanwa Bank of Japan for 27 years and dealt with corporate planning, international business development, corporate communications and promotions.

Nintendo

The Pokémon Company inc.

Kimishima was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2000. He retained this position until 2001.

Pokémon USA inc.

In 2001, he became the first president of Pokémon USA with its founding. He retained this position until 2002.

Nintendo of America

In January 2002, he became president of Nintendo of America, and retained this position until May 2006, his successor being Reggie Fils-Aime. In May 2006, he became CEO and chairman of the board of Nintendo of America. He will relinquish this position to Satoru Iwata later this year, if approved by shareholders.

Nintendo Co. Ltd.

In April 2013, it was announced that Tatsumi Kimishima would cease to be CEO and chairman of the board of Nintendo of America, and move to Japan to become managing director of Nintendo Co. Ltd., taking the roles of general manager of Corporate Analysis and Administration, and general manager of the General Affairs Division from two retiring executives.

Family

Kimishima is married and has two daughters. One lives in New York and the other works at the Japan Credit Bureau.
