Bird-type

Is it worth noting that in FR/LG the caretaker refers to bird-type? - unsigned comment from Mattrules161 (talkcontribs)

Doesn't he just say Bird Pokémon, meaning Flying-type? If he explicitly says Bird-type, that's somewhat interesting, but I don't remember that at all. — THE TROM — 06:26, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Trash Cans

I'm not sure if this is correct, but as far as I can remember this is the only place in any game that has ever had anything in any trash can. Nice bit of trivia if true, so can someone who has an eidetic memory please confirm & put it in the page? Thanks. Totovyle 06:45, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

That's false. There are various items hidden in the trash cans on the S.S. Anne in both RBY and FRLG, there are Leftovers in a trash can in the Celadon City restaurant in GSC, and in XY Pokémon can be found in trash cans in Lost Hotel and Pokémon Village. —Minimiscience (talk) 00:22, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Which Trash Cans

It's pretty hilarious.

As far as I can tell, Crystal_ explains everything for RB correctly here (this is the most relevant corresponding code).

For Yellow, they started from scratch for the second switch, so that most often there are actually 2 possibilities at a time. However, they seem to have screwed up again: First, they didn't fix half of the cans being unable to contain the first switch (assuming that's a bug). And then, for cans with three neighbors (the only possibilities are the outermost cans of the middle row), they don't look up with an offset corresponding to one out of the three intended pairs of second switches, but instead with a random offset [0,255]. In other words, the offset isn't what corresponds to the intended pair of cans, but to something random within the rest of the table, or most likely to something that's outside the table (results in trash can 0, top-left, be chosen twice); if you're very unlucky, you get nothing at all (-1 and -1). Fascinating. Thanks! Blueapple128 (talk) 20:46, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

Possible gym trivia

Could it be said that this is the first gym where Ash defeated the gym leader in an official battle in both the Original Series and the New Series? Yes, he got the Boulder Badge and Cascade badge first before but got them through other means (he forfeited twice against Brock who gave him the badge anyway and Misty's sisters gave him it after he saved the gym from Team Rocket). It wasn't a Gym Battle and he didn't battle Surge.--ForceFire 17:31, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
