:::::You have to remember that in Japan, grandparents are YOUNG.  Or at least, in Japanese media, but I assume that refers to the actual situation in Japan.  If most couples are married by 20, and immediately have children, then you can have a 50 year old grandfather at the age of 10.  "40 years ago, when I was your age" seems to be a common reoccuring theme for Anime/Manga grandparents.  Also note that this age estimate was never present in the games, and considering the more youthful appearance of Oak and Agatha in the anime rather than in the games, we can probably assume that Blue's grandfather is older than 50.  Remember, he's too old to go out travelling the world, training and fighting with Pokémon.  Prof.  Oak in the anime even uses a Dragonite in battle, so various things don't apply cross-canon.  But it's not too inconceivable to have a 50 year old grandfather.  In America these days, we often don't have children until much later, let alone get married around 20 (usually, marriage occurs in mid to late 20s, again, IN AMERICA).  But my grandparents had my dad when my grandmother was 19 and my grandfather was 21, so if my dad had done the same, I would have had a 50 year old grandfather (approximately). ::I agree. It depends what is meant by "trainer class"; was the general consensus "class" as in occupation? If so, I guess maybe we should keep him as "Prof. Oak" under some kind of 'unique trainers in Generation I' template, where the different gym leaders, Blue* and Professor Oak* would be included, all the others could fit into 'trainer type'. I know it seems rather strange to do that but as you suggested; Generation I doesn't use a 'trainer prefix' byte. Generation I only uses a single 8-bit byte for 'trainer type', though there is a separate roster address 0xD05D [01XX5DD0], which defines which team the trainer uses (as you know, changeable via the Ditto Trick/Old Man Trick). For trainers like Youngster 'class' makes sense but not for Prof. Oak, though he has three teams regardless. Something that needs to be changed; "Rival" and "Leader" were added to the template as "Generation I introduced" trainer classes, that needs to be removed.

:Amended the article. {{MN}} does yield Oak, but due to there being no character that corresponds to the index number of his teams (which are 1, 2, and 3), it is impossible to fight one of these teams. You would have fought team #225, which is just garbage data. ::Anyways, I spent some time actually digging for the exact source of this trivia(?) piece. My first result was a Robin Williams megathread on Reddit where someone had stated that Nintendo had reached out to him at some point due to his love of Nintendo games stating that Robin Williams would be their first and only choice for Professor Oak if they ever did a live action Pokémon movie. Someone provided a source link to.. another wiki where a line stated that the source came from a "video game magazine" interview. I decided to check the edit history of the page to see when this would have been added in. I excluded any edits made after 2014 as the trivia note would have been added sometime before then. Surprisingly the note had been on the page since the creation of the wiki page for him on the Moviepedia wiki. However, ever since the page was made, a "Citation needed" (as Template : Fact (without spaces) type note has been right beside that fact. And, that's as far as I got trying to figure it out. I tried to Google some key terms but nothing showed any such interview seeming to take place. Really wish it had stated what video game magazine as that would have helped greatly, otherwise; seems like it is just word of mouth without a valid source. :(
