Move

The Snap courses use a naming scheme that's similar to the one used for routes, even though that appears to never be used in-game. I believe that naming scheme shouldn't be used for these page titles, it only ever works for numbered routes; pages aren't named "Hoenn Jagged Pass" or even "Sevii Kindle Road" (and even if they were, route templates wouldn't work for them).

I suggest waiting for a week before deciding where to move the articles to, so we can be sure we found the most adequate naming scheme that works for Snap and New Snap. Based on what our partner wikis currently do, that would probably be a game-based suffix, or to have the articles directly at the course's title (potentially removing some disambiguations). Most importantly, when New Snap releases, I wouldn't want to create articles named "Lental Fluffy Lowlands" or similar due to consistency. (Therefore, hoping for consensus/approval before New Snap releases.) Nescientist (talk) 15:18, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

I feel like part of the justification for the titles is Beach is a very generic title and a title probably better served as a disambig page, which it is. Comparing it to New Pokémon Snap though Fluffy Lowlands is a fairly unique non-generic name. --Spriteit (talk) 01:45, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
Well, if they weren't there and I was to create them, I wouldn't create them at what their current titles are (but probably at "Beach (Snap)" or "Beach (Pokémon Island)"). Basically, moving them isn't really necessary IMO, but my point still stands that they should ideally be elsewhere, probably, if only because the titles look and feel as if that's what the courses' proper names in-game are, which they aren't. But since New Snap has non-generic names, this isn't really that important. Nescientist (talk) 13:52, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
Reviving this discussion. Since these locations are just named "Beach" etc. in-game, we shouldn't be inventing new names to disambiguate them — that's what dabtags are for. For the cases where there is no article or a disambig at the primary title (Valley, River, and Tunnel), I think the Snap locations should have the primary title; for the cases where there is a location type article at the primary title (Cave, Volcano, Beach), I think either "Snap" or "Pokémon Island" works as a dabtag (I would lean slightly towards "Pokémon Island" because we usually prefer region-based dabtags over game-based ones, but I don't have a particularly strong opinion on which is better). --SnorlaxMonster 10:30, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
Return to "Pokémon Island Beach" page.
