Magical creatures?

In the movie Arceus and the Jewel of Life Pokémon are repeatedly referred to as Magical Creatures a number of times. should page be added? maybe as an indirect? 1ted59 01:28, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

I think it should be a redirect, and mentioned in this article. CuboneKing 01:40, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Speculation or fact?

That the word Pokémon was "created" by Ash and Co. The word did not exist until Ash and Co. went into the past. When they went into the past they explained to Damos what they are. After the events of the movie, Damos started using the word "Pokémon" to refer to "magical creatures". Then after centuries go by, "magical creatures" is obsolete. We still did not get an explanation on how the word "Pokémon" came in. So, if you understand what I'm saying, would this be speculation or fact? One reason to back this up is, at the beginning of the movie, when Arceus arrived, he called Pokémon "magical creature". Then at the end when Ash and Co. returned, he said did not call them "magical creatures", he called them "Pokémon".--Midnight Blue 02:57, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

You know what, you're right. Good thinking! CuboneKing 03:00, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I took me a while to figure out how to write it. Well, do you think we should get other opinions?--Midnight Blue 03:06, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Ask an admin, maybe. Getting other's opnions is a good idea. CuboneKing 03:08, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Which admin is having a good day?--Midnight Blue 03:09, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I actually don't think there is a signle admin online. CuboneKing 03:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
There has to be.--Midnight Blue 03:16, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Nate made an edit recently, but I don't think so. CuboneKing 03:18, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
TTEchidna is on the forums.--Midnight Blue 03:19, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't counting the forums. CuboneKing 03:20, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Ok, man....this sucks, they are usually on here like all the time.--Midnight Blue 03:23, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
It seems as though admins are never there when you need them. I've felt that too much. CuboneKing 03:24, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
That's true lol--Midnight Blue 03:26, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Oh! Nate's on! CuboneKing 03:27, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

HEY GAIS can you quit spamming up the recent changes with your conversation, thanks. Sorry to put it so bluntly, but cmon, talk pages aren't for conversations... ▫▪Ťïňắ 03:27, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, yea it did get out of hand.--Midnight Blue 03:28, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
If that is added to the article, methinks it would be an Ontological paradox.--MisterE13 03:29, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
oops... As I said MB, Nate's on. Ask him. CuboneKing 03:30, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
The word "Pokémon" was no more created by Ash than Johnny B. Goode was created by Marty McFly. TTEchidna 03:31, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Also, if you need us and we're on the forums, a quick VM will work better than flooding the Recent Changes.--RexRacer 03:32, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I'll keep that in mind. Thanks. CuboneKing 03:34, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, I put the "___" b/c i could not think of a word. I know they did not create it. Ok, what about we just put that it is still unknown where the term "Pokémon" came from.--Midnight Blue 03:36, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

494?

494 species of Pokémon? afaik there are only 493...? ?_? Palkia38 08:46, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

  • I'm confused too - maybe someone counted Shaymin's sky forme as a whole new Pokémon or something. I'll change it to 493 for now. --DekuScrubby 14:28, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
  • I think I found the problem - because it uses a formula to count the number of Pokémon which counts the number of pages under the Generation I/II/III/IV (and V for some reason) categories, it's counting this user talk page as well. This formula seems a bit needless - wouldn't it make more sense just to type the number in? It doesn't change that often. --DekuScrubby 14:33, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Basically, it's so we don't have to update it manually every time a single Gen V Pokémon is revealed from now until <enter Gen V games name here>. That, and Echy loves fancy coding more than life itself. --electAbuzzzz 17:03, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

OOoookay, now there are 511 species. - unsigned comment from Malake256 (talkcontribs)

500!

There are now 500 known Pokémon species. I'd add it to the article but, well, it's protected. T a r o m o n 09:14, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Yep, we know. This page actually updates automatically so no need to point out 501, 502, etc. —darklordtrom 11:37, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

well..

i'm surprised no one had done so yet, but 515 is the number now. - MB17 MatoroBro0107 20:10, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

It's currently locked. R.A. Hunter Blade 04:24, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
It calculates based on categories. Once we have pages on the new ones it will update.--MisterE13 23:00, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
There's 523 now! But yes, we might as well wait until they have their own articles. If you want to know how many species of Pokemon there are at any given time, there's a rather nifty counter on the Bulbanews front page. T a r o m o n 10:15, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Project

Should this be under Project Pokédex? It's Turtwig A! My talk or wiki edits 01:23, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Plural Species Names

When you are referring to two or more of a species, for example Dratini, would you say "Oh wow, look at those Dratini!" or, "Oh wow, look at those Dratinis!"? --FiMbUlWiNtEr2O|2 00:21, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Return to "Pokémon (species)" page.
