Some events are called to be post-national (ergo, cannot be done/obtained without the national dex). However, in my copy of pokemon platinum, I've got the national dex, even tough i didn't beat Cynthia (I'm not the champion). This doesnt make sense, Golbat evolves by happiness (Chansey too), so surely it would evolve regardless of whether the Nat Dex has been obtained or not? The article says that you need to earn the eigth badge to obtain the National Pokédex, but this is incorrect, as I have it in my copy with only 7 badges; judging on what the Professor says when he gives it to you, I assume the unlock condition is defeating/capturing Groudon or Kyogre, so I've updated the article to say that, if anyone has information otherwise, feel free to correct me.

== Completing the Sinnoh Pokedex ==

In order to get the National Dex in Sinnoh, you have to first complete the Sinnoh Dex? How do you do this if you cannot trade with anyone else? Furthermore, is Pal Park locked until you get the National Dex, as well? If you have to have or see all of the Sinnoh Pokemon to get the National Dex, does that mean they assume you *must* trade with someone to get the other version exclusives?

In other words, it is impossible to get the National Dex - and by extension Pal Park, the Poke Radar and other things - in Diamond and Pearl (and Platinum) without trading? 

If it isn't, is there a guide or page somewhere that says what minimum Pokemon I need to catch or evolve in a certain game in order to complete the Sinnoh Dex and get the National Dex? {{unsigned|Mcheetah}}

Every pokemon is used at least once by a trainer (or shown to you by Cynthia's Grandmother) at some point in the game. Should it be mentioned that there is no National Pokedex in Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee due to only 153 pokemon (excluding alolan forms) actually being in the game?  The big reason I decided to ask instead of just add it is because it also does not connect to Pokemon Bank in any way, meaning it cannot access or link to any form of National Dex at all.  I wanted to know if it should just be omitted because of this reason, or if it should still be explained. I just tried with Manaphy and still nothing. My guess is you need to beat the Elite Four and Champion for this event to be available, but I'll keep checking in throughout my playthrough to see if there are any earlier checkpoints. After beating the first Gym, Rowan is not in the lab anymore (I checked), since he is north of Jubilife for the first Team Galactic encounter. I have beaten that encounter and he is now back in the lab, however Oak still doesn't appear. {{Unsigned|NEETenshi}}

No need to defeat Cynthia in BDSP, I just went back to Rowan after getting my bike and Oak did appear, so I got the National Pokédex and PokéRadar. So it requires at least 2 badges, not sure if the Galactic event in Eterna City is necessary to beat or not (I did beat it).
