List

I'm going to create the list, but I need to know if I should mark anything besides Key Items. I also wanted to create the article before it was finished so others could also edit it at the same time I do so it'll get done faster. --LynnCreed 18:22, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Please don't edit each letter section separately. That causes a lot of revisions to the page which is not good for the server. Also, somebody "corrected" Poké Ball as Pokéball. Pokéball is incorrect! Please read the welcome thingie on your talk page again, you somebody. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 18:39, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Someone didn't correct it, that was a problem due to edit conflicts, which were happening all over the place. Everyone jumped onto the page at once and it turned into a hellish mess. I'm trying to clean what is there and set up the style it has to have. So wait until It is unprotected. MaverickNate 18:41, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
If you want another collumn, perhaps it should be one for notes like "Generation 1 only" or "Pokemon Dungeon only" --LynnCreed 18:56, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
Do the tables have to be centered? They seem really far from the headers that way. — Laoris (Blah) 19:07, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
It works for the Pokémon list by name. MaverickNate 19:10, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I think the GenI only column would help; also perhaps a column dictating what kind of item it is. Just for quick reference. But it may be best to wait until the page is more complete first. — THE TROM — 20:34, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
When I protected to to avoid edit conflicts for the clean-up, I was thinking about putting in a premier generation column...but maybe a description category would be nice. MaverickNate 20:45, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

(indent reset)IMO we could add here a single column which tells in which games the item can be found in. Description column would also be a good idea, but I think it's quite useless since the item names themselves link to the item information, which itself is at least in the case of most key items only a one-line description. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 23:28, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

That's true. But like I said, for quick reference. Think of it like listing the types of Pokemon in those lists. That information is in the articles, but we do it anyway. — THE TROM — 23:44, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

UPDATE!

This page needs to be updated so as to include items from Generation V! - - unsigned comment from Squirrelfeet (talkcontribs)

Yes, that's why there is the incomplete notice at the top of the page, it will be edited soon, when someone can. --Spriteit 23:09, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Wonder Launcher

Should Wonder Launcher items be listed here too? I wasn't sure since they're only available there, and not through regular play. Funktastic~! 18:15, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Gonna bring this back up, since I don't wanna add all of them to the article if they shouldn't be there. Funktastic~! 22:55, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
They are in game items, so I'm gonna say yes, why not? --Spriteit 11:11, 12 February 2012 (UTC)

Update for Gen VI

I'm not a regular editor here, so I don't know the conventions, but none of this page seems to have been updated for Gen VI. (Using Ctrl-F on "VI" returns 68 results, but none of them refer to the generation, they're all parts of other words, like village.) Just thought I should throw that out there. --Mario-Fan (talk) 11:49, 2 March 2014 (UTC)

"Fake"/Cheated in Items

Should items that are exclusively found/obtainable via cheats be listed on this page? About 1/3 of them don't link to the correct page, and even looking at all the items on the Unobtainable Items list, all but 5 that are on not on this page, except for those that line up with legitimately obtainable items. It seems like these items really don't fit on this list anyway, since by all accounts this page is a list of "obtainable" items. --13akoors (talk) 03:24, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

Yeah, when I updated this page, I took care that most unobtainable items weren't actually added, for mostly the reasons you pointed out (but I added them in the source code, to indicate they do exist). However, I wasn't comfortable with removing all unobtainable items, especially not those with an article (such as the Azure Flute).
If you're concerned about "items" such as the Running Shoes (i.e., those that cannot actually appear in the Bag), I can see how removing them may be sensible. Nescientist (talk) 17:44, 1 March 2018 (UTC)
It's a list of items. Not obtainable items.
I can see ignoring some of the Gen I and II unobtainable items, but everything else should be on here for completeness. Tiddlywinks (talk) 19:49, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Gen VIII Items

Has this been updated to include items introduced in Generation VIII? If not, it's about time someone did that. GalarChamp Cinderace (talk) 20:42, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

Why don't you do that? sumwun (talk, contribs) 14:59, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

I've been here like a week, and don't know how. Let's figure it out! Hello, it's me, GalarChamp Cinderace! (talk) 18:15, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

I've now done this, as well as the missing Gen VII items --Spriteit (talk) 03:23, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

Item prefixes

This article would be a good place to document the unique "prefixes" that newer games put on every item, such as "a cluster of" Max Mushrooms or "a loaf of" Bread when the player obtains one. (Putting them on the individual article pages would probably be unwieldy.) Blueapple128 (talk) 09:31, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

For reference, there are several such item grammar things that should ideally be documented, not only that "prefix" (though all of them low priority imo). Nescientist (talk) 10:16, 12 June 2022 (UTC)
