Isn't Lapras a Placodont, or at least partially inspired by one? Large prehistoric marine reptiles with shell-like back plates which look like... well, Lapras? (sure the long neck and some other features are separately inspired by plesiosaurs, but placodonts have the 'shell' and some of them had bony things on the skull like Lapras' 'horns'.)[[User:Icer|Icer]] 16:25, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

:Not really a reply but...I was spinning a 3D model of Lapras around when I realized that, when viewed from under, Lapras looks exactly like a sea turtle, with larger front flippers, smaller back flippers, a small tail, and the shell! If you can imagine Lapras without that long neck you'll see what I mean. [[User:KingKairos|KingKairos]] 06:31, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
