On this page it says that the move quadruples the chance of getting a critical hit. On the Critical hit section of damage calculation, it says that Focus Energy increases the critical hit chance by one stage. Looking at the chart shown there, increasing by one stage is considerably less of an effect than quadrupling. Which is correct? Yenreb 15:51, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Assuming that focus energy increased it by 2 stages instead of 1, I believe this is being represented inaccurately anyway, as only if it is unaffected by any other critical hit enhancers would it quadruple the chance of getting a critical hit. For instance, if you used focus energy followed by a slash the critical hit chance would be 33.3% as opposed to 50% since it would be a stage 4 critical hit stage. This is all based on the chart in the damage modification chart however, so if anyone can confirm this it would be appreciated. Pheonid 22:54, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Move image replacement

You know that the original image has orbs with black edges? That's incorrect. How about this?

<(^_^)>Question: If a Pokemon(say- Honchkrow) has the Superluck ability, is given an item to boost critical hit ratio (I beleive it is called "scope lens"), uses a dire hit capsule, (and focus energy, if it can learn it) and a high critical hit ratio move, does anyone know how to calculate the chances?-------thep0keman

One Stage?

How much exactly is one stage? I seem to be near guaranteed a crit when I combine Focus Energy with Scope Lens but I'd like to know the actual percentages. Scope lens says it only increases it by 1.1 so I assume Focus Energy is very effective. Don Lark Kiin (talk) 16:12, 5 March 2016 (UTC)

It's because of how Critical stages were changed in Gen 6. Currently, 1 stage of increased critical receives the same marginal boost as gens 2-5, 2 stages of increased critical means a 50% chance for a critical hit, and 3 stages or more reaches 100%. With Focus Energy and Scope Lens, that's at least three stages for every move, which explains why you're getting guaranteed critical hits. VioletPumpkin (talk) 16:35, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
