+I don't think this is true. Lance has a Charizard in GSC though he is a champion in that game, but he wasn't in the original game.
+Also I wanna ask, shouldn't champions count as part of the elite four? I mean they are fought after you're done with the other four trainers, so I don't see why they shouldn't count.
