The start of this episode has Ash and co. and Team Rocket falling down a hole, with Calista immediately running past them frantically while looking at her stopwatch and exclaiming that she has to hurry and that she is late. This seems to draw some obvious parallels to scene Alice in Wonderland where Alice falls down the rabbit hole and the white rabbit runs past.
