What the? Dawn's gonna challenge a gym? Is Ash going to do contests now? --Theryguy512 12:19, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Of course not. My guess is that Dawn is just trying it out since her contest career is currently on rocky ground. She'll probably lose, showing the power that Ash will have to overcome. --FabuVinny T-C-S 12:22, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I think she will challenge Mealene, get destroyed and blow up. Then get destroyed again. THEN ESPLODESESES!!! CrystalLucario 12:28, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Oh wow... still, Dawn Challenging a gym!? That would be so cool!! Can't wait!!!Pkmnluvr25 00:14, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I think she'll challenge Maylene and Lucario will KO Piplup. Not quite as exciting but less messy. --FabuVinny T-C-S 12:27, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Well I am going by how it was in the Special of how Maylene wanted to challenge Pearl's Monferno. I know the Special is not the same as the anime but what if Maylene made it where Dawn has to win against Maylene in order for Ash to get that badge? -- Darkstorm18
Ash wouldn't accept the badge if it was done like that. --FabuVinny T-C-S 21:00, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Unless of course that would be his only way of getting it, or maybe Maylene is having Dawn battle with Ash's pokemon.--Darkstorm18
No. If he didn't earn it, he wouldn't accept it. Simple as that. --FabuVinny T-C-S 15:51, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

I guess Maylene would defeat all her Pokémon only using her Lucario.-Billy4b2004 05:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

She used Meditite to defeat Buneary, and Lucario to Ambipom and Piplup.Ej92 14:47, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Unconfirmed title

This title was given by a completely random guy on PokeAni board. It's unlikely to be true. --Maxim 12:43, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Really? so... she is not ESPLODESESESESINGSES?!?!? CrystalLucario 12:59, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
What are you talking about? Everything on Pokeani is true. Even when they're just guessing, what they say is true. --FabuVinny T-C-S 14:11, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
But it's not said on PokeAni itself. It was said on PokeAni's BOARD by some random idiot. Which means that information does not come from PokeAni, it comes from that random idiot. Information Posted on PokeAni by Random Idiot =/= True. --Maxim 14:13, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

So she is ESPLODESESESESINGSES! Yes!!! CrystalLucario 22:42, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Please, you're making yourself look like a fool...--Pokencyclopedia 11:58, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

God its called humor jeez... CrystalLucario 22:21, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Well we don't find it humorous...PokeManiac102 22:29, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

You do that somewhere else. CrystalLucario 22:42, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

You can't tell me what to do!PokeManiac102 22:48, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Is there any point to this line of 'discussion'? --FabuVinny T-C-S 23:48, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Not anymore.PokeManiac102 18:54, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

HEY! Billy4b2004 my good friend!

Trivia

It says that Dawn finally learns that Brock used to be the Pewter City Gym Leader. But I believe in the episode "Dawn of a New Era, when Brock brings out Bonsly, Ash tells her about his gym leader status. Maybe it was just in the English dub though. - unsigned comment from PsychicRider (talkcontribs)

They said he lives at the Gym but did they say he was actually the leader? --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 01:25, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
According to a subbed version of the Japanese episode of DP004, Satoshi specifically states that Takeshi was the former gym leader of Nibi City, so unless the fansubbers were making stuff up, Dawn already knew. Also, according to PocketMonsters's fansub of this episode, Hikari's reaction is more like "Oh, that's right, Takeshi was the gym leader of Nibi City, wasn't he?" So that line about Dawn "finally" learning about Brock being the gym leader probably should be removed... since she already knew. Pikapi 21:02, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Trivia 2

It says in the trivia that this is the first time a main character other than Ash battled an official gym leader. Did Brock's battle with Lola not count? If it needs to be changed, make sure the adjustment doesn't just say she was the first to participate in an official gym battle because, of course, Misty and Brock did that just from the other side.

Because he was the co-Gym Leader--KukiTalk 12:40, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't see how that discounts anything. It could be counted as the first "official Gym Battle", though. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 12:54, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
The trivia's still misleading. It says that a main character battled an official Gym Leader. That could still mean Misty vs. Brock (if they battled), or simply Team Rocket vs. Misty/Brock... ht14 03:00, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Dawn's first battle against an official Gym Leader?

Doesn't the double battle with Ash against James and Gardenia in Once There Were Greenfields! count as a battle against a Gym Leader? Or were we just referring to an official gym battle? I think it needs to be reworded. --ケンジガール 02:00, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

This marks the first time a main character other than Ash competed for a gym badge.

I think this sentense should be deleted or edited. How about Gary vs Giovanni in Kanto? It was the same episode in which Ash earned his 8th badge battling vs Jessie and James. Willy coyote 13:32, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

I think that means out of Ash and his friends. Gary is a supporting character, but not one of his traveling companions. --SnorlaxMonster 13:38, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
