Damage type of Contact moves
The article states that
ever since the distinction between physical and special were no longer based on types, most moves that make contact are physical.
but it also states
Post-Gen IV, Damage dealing for moves that make contact are always calculated using the attacking Pokémon's Attack and the defending Pokémon's Defense.
This implies that special moves that make contact (according to the Japanese wiki page these are Trump Card, Grass Knot, Wring Out and Petal Dance) deliver physical damage despite having a special type. Please either clarify or correct this as appropriate ._. Hyperworm 13:11, 6 May 2010 (UTC)
- Smogon and other sites have counted these moves as special for years. If there was something like this, it might have been noticed by now. Still, someone should definitely test this. TorchicBlaziken (talk•edits) 01:49, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Multiple-hit moves and poison point
Poison point gives the pokemon a 30% chance to poison the enemy on contact. My question is, is this 30% chance processed for each hit of a multiple-hit move (say, fury swipes)? In other words, if I hit 5 times with fury swipes on a poke with poison point, do I get 5 chances for poison point to proc? Mafaraxas 23:34, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Type Balance Question
If a move does no effect on it's target; say Tackle on a ghost-type; does contact still occur? And thus contact related effects happen? Like Tackle on Yamask gives the attacking Pokémon it's Mummy, for example? Yes/No?

Earlier generations.
It goes at least as early as Gen III. And, while Leaf Blade is special due to being Grass-type, it makes contact. Magnitude doesn't make, like later. Marked +-+-+ 14:53, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
