"(Generation IV)" after its name
Is there any reason why this article has "(Generation IV)" specifically after its name? The Chilan Berry does not exist in any other Pokémon Generation and when I look at other pages such as "Colbur Berry" they do not have "(Generation IV)" after its name either. --Chickasaurus 22:44, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

- I think this page should be moved simply to Chilan Berry. It redirects here anyway and the page points out that the e-Reader Berry exists. Due to the fact that it is also in Generation V, the name is currently incorrect. The e-Reader Berry is much less likely to be searched for than the current Berry. Not only was the old Berry in an old Generation only, but it was event-only. --SnorlaxMonster 12:20, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

It should be moved to just Chilan Berry and the old one should be Chilan Berry (Generation III) Pokémon Trainer Miki 22:04, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Chilan Berry Confusion Interaction
Saw that there was no mention of this on any major Pokemon site, at least from what I could find, so figured it deserved a mention. In Heartgold/Soulsilver at the very least(possibly the rest of Gen IV as well but haven't tested) hitting yourself in confusion can activate Chilan Berry. This was done fighting a wild Rattata who was too low leveled to know any non-Normal type attacks so this may require some testing to see if it applies to all moves or just Normal ones, but it's worth adding a mention to. Worth investigating other games to see if it's the case in them. --Zassa2 (talk) 14:44, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
- Smogon research from 2012 indicates that this is because the confusion attack in Gen4 is Normal-type regardless of what move was selected originally, so it will always activate a Chilan Berry. The same thread also indicates that in Gen5 it was changed to be typeless so it can no longer activate a Chilan Berry. -Minibug (talk) 14:53, 19 January 2024 (UTC)
