Somek and Battlus - Same Person?
They both seem to have same Japanese name (from what I've seen on various Japanese sites), so may it be possible that it's actually the same person who has two different English names due to the translator's inconsistency? --Maxim 13:59, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, they're both adults and they appear to have different character models, and their teams are also completely different (unlike Vander, where it can be assumed his Zigzagoon and Whismur suffered a similar fate as Eagun's Pikachu). However, both Battlus and Somek have the same male Bodybuilder base, which does give credence to your theory, since it's entirely possible the translators mistook the change of clothes for a new character. Their teams are also completely different between the games, but do specialize in the same methods, though odds are a precedent could be found for the former...
- And this isn't the only translation debate for Orre NPCs, either. I dropped a concern on Talk:Matron over another issue which a Japanese trainer class name could resolve. Odds are if we can prove that the translators did indeed change Fun Old Lady (from Colosseum, which has a Japanese name listed) to Matron (which does not have a Japanese name listed) for XD and that they are indeed not two distinct trainer classes (as I've always suspected), the outcome of that dispute could help resolve this one as well.
- Granted, if we do have to merge pages over these translation disputes, we're going to have to come up with a how-to method for doing it to ensure a smooth merge...--Shiningpikablu252 15:33, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
