::No matter how it might look shows never show everything frame-by-frame, and neither do movies. Chances are that Ash could see a lot of Pokémon off-camera. And about Brock, I'd assume that he studies about Pokémon off-camera. Also I have never seen a real-life dragon, but that won't stop me from recognizing it if I ever get the chance of seeing one.
